7. Loop
From
straight flight, model pulls up in circular loop & resumes
straight & level flight on entry heading. Throttle may be
reduced at top of loop as in prototype & opened when normal
flight is resumed. Low powered aircraft may execute a shallow
dive at full throttle to pick up speed before entering loop. |
|
8. Roll
From straight & level flight, model rolls at constant rate
thru a complete rotation resuming straight & level flight on
same track. Low powered aircraft are expected to execute shallow
dive at full throttle before entry. Pilot must declare if
specific roll style is to be performed, e.g. Slow, Barrel, or
Snap. |
|
9. Descending 360
degree Circle
From
straight & level flight, model performs gentle 360 deg
descending circle over landing area, in a direction away from
judges, at a constant low throttle setting. Maneuver terminates
at a maximum of twenty ft., resuming straight & level flight
on the same path. |

Static
score is added to an average of Flight scores to total a contest
score. Typically awards are given to three places per class in a
scale contest.

We
heard you asking what’s going on here…
This is a
radio control flying scale model contest.
Scale contests are comprised of two
segments:
(1). Static,
the portion of a contest in which accuracy of a
model is measured by comparing documentation supplied by the BOM
(Builder Of the Model) to models viewed
from multiple angles, referred to as 3-Views. Judges
compare each pilot's documentation to their contest entry.
Pilot-Builder supplied documentation provides the proof a full
size fixed wing man carrying aircraft existed and looked exactly
like the model. In all but two contest classes*
pilot's must be the builder of the model, (BOM).
